Join this family-friendly tour to experience Linz history and culture in the most fun and exciting way. Your friendly Private Guide will adapt the program and commentary to engage your children in sightseeing of the historic sites. Let the kids discover legends and fairy tales of Linz Old Town.
During the 2-hours walking tour, you will visit the former base station of the popular Pöstlingbergbahn, that is, the Pöstlingbergbahn Museum. Today, the museum holds a permanent exhibition on the documents and items related to the historic railway. Among some of its treasures is the old-school railway carriage with the original furniture. It’s a great playground for children of any age, and the parents will enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere of this valley station as well.
After having fun at the railway museum, you will pass by the “Museum of the Future” – Ars Electronica Center – and cross the Nibelungenbrücke over the Danube River to explore the heart of Linz. On the Hauptplatz, you will see the most important buildings and monuments, such as the Old Town Hall, the spectacular Holy Trinity Column, and the beautiful Neptune Fountain, where children can play with clean water. To make the sightseeing fun for your children, your friendly Private Guide will be telling riddles, fairy tales and mystery stories to introduce the city’s history and culture.
You will then leave the main square and stroll down the charismatic narrow allay Hoffgase, passing by the house of Kepler and the Losensteiner Freihaus. The last stop of this fantastic tour will be the Linz Castle, where you will explore the castle’s inner courtyard and play in the Castle Park.
Choose the 4-hours option to visit the Castle Museum. There are permanent exhibitions on the artistic and cultural history of Upper Austria from the Neolithic Age up to the 20th-century. The museum is very informative and contains pieces of art and cultural history that even little children will find interesting, such as the lovely traditional costumes and golden hats typical for the Upper Austrian province, collection of arms and armors and a vintage car. Throughout the tour, your children will have lots of fun but also experience history and culture.
