New York City plays a major role in the history of the gay liberation movement as the site of the Stonewall riots and the first Pride March. On this exclusive tour you will see historic gay and lesbian bars, former residences of famous LGBT writers and activists, and other LGBT-friendly institutions in Greenwich Village.

The 2-hour tour will begin at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center. The guide will show you Julius’, the site of one of the earliest pre-Stonewall public actions for LGBT lights, and the former Oscar Wilde Memorial Bookshop – the first gay and lesbian bookstore on the East Coast. You will hear the detailed story behind the Stonewall riots of 1969 and see the historic Stonewall Inn. Opposite in the Christopher Park you will find the Gay Liberation Monument.
