Wawel Royal Castle
Residential-defensive castle in Krakow, with an area of 7040 m² with 71 exhibition halls. The castle was built in 13th century and has been extended and renovated over the next years. The centuries-old residence of kings and the symbol of Polish statehood, in 1930 the Castle also became one of the most important museums in the country, storing a valuable collection of paintings, graphics, sculptures, textiles, goldsmiths, military items, porcelain and furniture. Wawel’s collections of eastern art include the great and the largest collection of tents in Europe.
Castle collections are presented at several permanent exhibitions, showing the appearance of the royal residence in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Wawel Cathedral
Archcathedral Basilica of St. Stanisław and St. Wacław in Krakow is archcathedral church, located in Wawel, owned by the archdiocese of Kraków. A place of coronation of Polish kings and their burial. Many Saints, Cracow bishops and almost all kings since Władysław I the Elbow-high to Stanisław Leszczyński are buried there. The cathedral is surrounded by three towers. In the north there is the Sigismund Tower with the famous bell “Zygmunt”. Second is Clock Tower, taller one, topped with a Baroque cupola, while on the southern side there is a third one, called the Wikary Tower or Silver Bells, because the bells hanging there contain an admixture of silver.
Krakow Old Town
Krakow Old Town is one of the most beautiful and representative parts of the city. This is the oldest area of Krakow, surrounded by Planty Park. Its center is the Main Market Square. In 1978, the Old Town, along with Wawel, Kazimierz and Stradom, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In 1994 together with Wawel, Stradom, Kazimierz, Podgórze, Nowy Świat and Piasek, it was recognized as a Historical Monument. The architectural complex of the Old Town survived all the cataclysms and wars of the past and has kept the layout unchanged since the Middle Ages.
Krakow Barbican
The Krakow Barbican is the northernmost part of the city’s fortifications in Krakow. It is a Gothic building with seven turrets, rounded and six-sided, arranged alternately with each other. Formerly, it was connected with the St. Florian’s Gate with a long neck and its main task was to defend it. The two gates of the fortress were led by drawbridges, thrown over a stone-paved moat, 24 meters wide and 3,5 meters deep.
Kazimierz District
Part of the Old Town District in Krakow. From its foundation in the 14th century to the turn of the 18th and 19th century, it was an independent city, located south of Krakow. Its north-eastern part was occupied by the Jewish quarter. For many centuries, Kazimierz was a place of coexistence and infiltration of Jewish and Christian culture so it’s perfect place to go if you want to understand the past and present of Jewish culture and history. Currently, it is one of the most important tourist attractions of Krakow, it is also one of the centers of the city’s cultural life.
The monuments of Kazimierz together with the Old Town District and Wawel were entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978.

Vistula boulevards in Krakow are historic hydrotechnical constructions with a flood function in Kraków along the Vistula. It’s difficult to imagine the panorama of Krakow without the Vistula River Boulevards. Along with the adjacent fragments of the Vistula and Rudawa embankments, they gained the function and status of park areas, being now a popular recreational and leisure place for Krakow residents and tourists. It’s located below the eastern part of the Main Market Square and covers an area of over 6000m², of which the archaeological reserve – nearly 4000 m².
Permanent and temporary exhibitions in the underground museum are very innovative. Holographic devices for the presentation of reconstruction of buildings, designed to create in the museum an atmosphere that allows you to empathize with Cracow from seven hundred years ago.
The underground exhibition presents both the history of Krakow and the relationship of this city with the Hanseatic League and the trade and cultural centers of medieval Europe. The presented monuments are coins from the 14th century, ceramics, decorations, medieval tools, 600-year hygiene utensils and much more.
Everyday life in Krakow is documented by collected objects: clay figurines, leather shoes, dice, beads and medallions from the East, as well as caves of Tatar arrows. The unique on a global scale is the 693-kg mass of commercial lead.
Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory
Factory founded in 1937 as a place of production of enamelled and tin products. Taken over by German entrepreneur Oskar Schindler in 1939, as the German Enamelware Factory, run by Schindler until 1945. The permanent exhibition presented in the museum is entitled Kraków – the time of occupation in 1939-1945. The intention of the museum is to show the history of the factory at Lipowa street in Krakow in a wider historical context. In 45 exhibition halls there is shown Krakow and its residents from the times of the Second World War.
