Book a 3-hour Paris fashion tour! Our Expert Guide will show you places that are unknown to most tourists and locals, but that are a must-see for everyone interested in the history and controversies of top French designers. The tour will begin near Hotel Ritz, where Coco Chanel resided before her death in 1971, and where she stayed with her lover – an SS Officer, and other upper-echelon German military staff during World War II. You’ll be surprised by the many stories of her rumored involvement with the Nazi Party and British aristocrats!
As you look at the Napoleon Statue in front of the hotel, you will also discover the association between Napoleon III and Louis Vuitton, and about the rumored collaboration between the Vuitton family and the Nazis during the German occupation of France. The guide will show you the former location of LV’s first shop at Rue des Capucines, which recently inspired the Capucines collection of LV handbags. Of course, we can’t miss rue Cambon, where you’ll find Chanel’s first store and the apartment where she hosted her famous parties for the Parisian and British elite. The guide will show you a flagship store of Chanel that sells all of her most popular products and designs, including the little black dress, suits and bags.
The tour will pass Place de la Concorde, Petit Palais, Grand Palais, and many monuments, such as the one of Sir WInston Churchill – British prime minister who was a close friend of Coco Chanel, and one to a French General Lafayette, who is also commemorated by the name of Galeries Lafayette, a popular French department store. We’ll pass La Galerie Dior, a new museum displaying Dior’s designs and learn about the life and revolutionary “New Look” of Christian Dior in front of his very first store at 30 Montaigne. Find out why Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Margaret of the UK love his haute-couture designs, and why Coco Chanel had criticized them.
If you’re interested in the business side of fashion, you’ll be also interested to learn about the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, which owens large shares in top brands including LV, Dior, Tiffany & Co, Dom Pérignon, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, and more! We’ll end our tour at Av. Montaigne, where you can spend the rest of the day shopping at the best boutiques in Paris!
