Your 2-hour walking tour begins in the heart of Hamburg’s Old Town, at the Rathausmarkt. Admire the richly decorated Neo-Renaissance Town Hall and Alsterarkaden, the 19th-century Venetian-style shopping arcade along the waterfront of one of Hamburg’s thousands of rivers and canals. Take a stroll towards the Thalia Theater while listening to the city’s fascinating history, from the medieval Hanseatic League, through a free imperial city, to a renowned industrial center. Step inside the St Paul’s Church and admire its medieval architecture and artworks, such as the lion-head door handles.
