Full description

Follow Shakespeare’s Trail in London to learn about his life under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth and see the historic theatre where he gained his reputation as the greatest dramatist in the world. Enjoy excellent commentary from your 5-Star Guide, who is a master storyteller and an expert on Shakespearean history.

Join this exclusive 2-hour tour to hear the story of William Shakespeare. Explore the area where he lived and worked near the magnificent Tower of London, which is evoked in Shakespeare’s plays as a place of death, treachery and sorrow. See also the Monument to the Great Fire of London and imagine what the mediaeval city looked like before 1666.

Although Shakespeare’s London is long gone, his legacy is still alive in the city’s historic buildings and monuments. Enter the Southwark Cathedral to admire stained glass windows inspired by Shakespearean plays and the poet’s memorial and explore the Bankside area where the popular Southwark theatres like the Hope, Rose, Globe and the Swan once stood. Learn about the importance of theatre in mediaeval England and see the reconstructed Shakespeare’s Globe (exterior only), which was demolished in 1644, long after Shakespeare’s death.

Choose the 3-hour option to enhance your experience with a visit inside the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. We provide tickets for a public tour of the reconstructed open-air theatre where you can experience what it was like to see Shakespeare’s original plays live. Discover behind the scenes trivia and interesting facts about the life and work of playwrights, actors and other artists in the Elizabethan era.

The 5-hour option includes a 2-hour guided tour of Shakespearean highlights and tickets for a popular play at the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. This is your chance to see Julius Caesar, Henry VIII, Romeo & Juliet or another epic tragedy of Shakespeare performed live at an authentic English theatre. It will be an unforgettable experience for sure!
